Skin, flesh, blood

2020

polychrome ceramic, cotton-paper, golden thread

This piece revolves around the concept of the human body as a receptacle of memories, an intimate place where surfaces and places we experienced and passed through get collected, becoming part of our own blood.

Each lid displays a cast of my body on it.

Upon lifting the lid, the porous white raw clay
gives way to a bright, shiny red.

The box includes a small handmade cotton
paper book, bound with a golden thread that
resembles medical sutures.

Each page features photos of skin and surface
details of people and places which contributed
to compose me, and are now collected in my
blood
